My Choice May

The outline said "song of your choice" for May. The theme that month flows around listening to Prophets strengthen my family. I love the songs Latter Day Prophets and Books In The Book Of Mormon because they are so fun to sing! So I think I will teach them both! I found this book at Seagull book on clearance for $3.99 and was so excited because I knew right then how I could use it to teach Latter Day Prophets.Series of 52 #FHE lessons from #LDS prophets (get 16 free online--one with teachings from each prophet)
You don't need this book, however, because you can find all the clues you need on each prophet by searching lds.org or pinterest, etc. The cool thing about the book, though, is it comes with a CD so you can print out stuff!
I read through and figured out 3 pictures that would go with each prophet as clues. For instance, I would use golden plates, trees, and the picture of Moroni talking to Joseph Smith for him.
The reason I am using three clues is because I'll probably use my punch board for this game and I have four rows of three.
First I'll have them draw the clues and have them match to the prophets. Then while they learn about them, I'll teach (test) them the order of the song by first singing with the pictures, then using the clues, and by then they should know the order.
You will probably want this copy of the Latter Day Prophets Song because it includes the addition of President Monson. (just scroll down to the version that has Monson in parentheses)
I will probably do the same thing with the older prophets from Books In The Book Of Mormon. It is a shorter song, and with 4 Nephi's, should go pretty fast!

Conference Singing Time

For this Sunday before conference, I am downloading this page from lds.org. It is of the red chairs that the Apostles sit in and a slot for each prophet. Then you slip the prophet from his seat and put him at the podium.
The game will be that I put either the names of songs or the number of a verse of a song we are currently learning on the back of the picture of the prophet. I'll let one of the kids come pick a prophet. Sound like fun? I just tiled it and made it poster size.

Leprechaun Singing Time

So for St. Patrick's Day in Singing Time, I brought pieces of a leprechaun costume (hat, mustaches, scarf, necklace, bracelet) and each time they got the verses right for I Stand All Amazed, I would put on a piece of the costume. If they got all of the pieces on me, I shared my pot of gold with them. (Rolos!) It was funny! The green mustaches were especially effective. ;)
